Williamsville United Methodist Church

Circle November 20 on your calendar. It is the date of the Community Thanksgiving Service to be held at the Church of the Nazerene in Sherman.

The Senior Meal Program will begin in November. Please call Tracey in the office 217-566-3614 if you are in need of a meal or if you would like to help with this community service.

Two weeks ago we learned about the premeditated denial of Jesus Christ by Judas Iscariot. This week we saw all of the remaining apostles fall away from Jesus on the night he was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane. Why did this happen and what does it mean for us?

Mark 14:27 And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, “I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.”  God himself called for Jesus, his one and only son to die as the perfect sacrifice that would redeem all who believe in His name. Jesus’ blood was shed for you and me…

This was not the end, but the beginning.  God restored the eleven apostles when they believed and repented. These are the same apostles who received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and built the church.

We too, can stop carrying yesterday’s sin. “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out…” Acts3:19. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Today is a good day to be cleared of your sins, to be redeemed. All are invited to come Sundays 9:00 a.m., 128 East Jones St. in Williamsville. Hope to see you there.
