The Importance of a Church Family

In 10 words or less, please answer this question, “What is the importance of having a church family?”

Why did I ask? I’m not quite sure. A few weeks ago, a friend and I had a discussion about taking care of our church family and it got me to thinking… “What is the importance of having a church family?”

I knew a church family has always been important to me, and here is how you answered:

  • Very important for prayers and worship and having new friends
  • Moving to a new place the church was where I felt at home, could make new friends and get involved.
  • A church family provides togetherness of people who support one another in a Christian life of service toGod.
  • Friends to fellowship and pray for and with
  • Sense of community
  • Share the Gospel with church family
  • Togetherness in person and spirit
  • To raise a Christian family
  • Family, friends, place of sanctuary and power of prayer
  • It feels like you are part of a good group of people.
  • A church family is a family that doesn’t judge you.
  • A church family gives support in time of crisis and friendship and fellowship.
  • It influences the happiness and well-being of its members. Strength comes in numbers.
  • Fellowship (koinonia)… true oneness or commonality… a family
  • It isn’t church, it is the “church family” that is important.
  • A no judge zone, where we learn and grow together.
  • Church family…that you have spiritual support and fellowship with those who are like minded.
  • To support one another
  • During the tough times it is reassuring to know there is support for you. Even if you don’t ask.
  • They are always with you. Celebrate the good times and pick you up in the low times.
  • Spiritual fellowship, study, prayer and support
  • It’s a resource in sharing the belief of God
  • A place where Christians can share the good and bad times
  • To provide spiritual and personal growth
  • Thank you for sharing your responses with me.In Acts 2:42 it talks about the early church: “They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” I think we do this, maybe not every week all together, but there is intentional prayer, fellowship, biblical teaching and the breaking of bread. It is easier to stay connected when we see each other regularly. If you’re feeling left out or need prayers, please reach out to us. You are loved and important to the life of our church family. We miss you when we don’t see you, but you aren’t forgotten. If you have a new or old neighbor that doesn’t have a church family, reach out to them and invite them. Maybe the answers above will help them find a way to fill a void in their lives.I’m glad you are all part of my church family. Blessings to all of you,Polly Wise 217-622-1363
