Discern – Decide – Do…As Christians we are to be disciplined people. Meaning in one sense of the word, we live to glorify God. We think through a meaning or why of something. Then we decide on the biblical, Christ-like response, and then we respond. At least that is what should happen.

Often instead, we let our emotions take control. But in our lesson this week, Jesus taught his disciples to think through what was about to happen. It was the week of his approaching crucifixion and he told the disciples that the temple would be destroyed in their lifetime. Unbelievable disasters would occur. They would be persecuted for following him. And God would be glorified through it all. Good will triumph evil.

When we let our emotions determine our reaction, most often the scene is not Christ-like. But as Christians we are encouraged, to take a moment to discern or evaluate the situation, decide on the appropriate response, and then to do. Follow through with a response that glorifies God. Be the good.

We can all strive to be better in this area through the grace of God.
