God calls. God uses some of the most unlikely people…
As we continue our study of Mark we learn the names of the 12 that Jesus chose as apostles. Apostles were specifically commissioned to preach the gospel, “Repent and believe…”. Jesus qualifies those whom he calls. He gave them authority to preach and cast out demons.
Jesus called a thief, a liar, someone with other passions, someone with doubt and questions, and a tax collector…and that was just the qualifications of 6 of the 12. He called ordinary men with whom he did extraordinary things.
Simon began following Jesus and his priorities changed from government concerns to kingdom building. Jesus and Simon, two men on opposite ends of the political spectrum putting their political views aside for the bigger mission.
Jesus calls us today. Are you willing? Pray first, then make a decision. Whom will you follow?
