The first January after-worship coffee fellowship was held today with Bob and Jo Tibbs
and Charlie and Eileen Grampp as hostesses.
A noisy offering was taken this morning with the proceeds going to Kumler and Liberian
Children’s scholarships.
Wednesday, January 11 the Trustees will meet at 6:00 p.m. followed by the United
Methodist Women at 7:00 p.m. Carole Piscatelli will be hostess and Pastor Dick will lead the
program.
The second monthly coffee fellowship will be January 22.
Also on January 22 at 10:15 a.m., our congregation has been invited to join those of the
Williamsville Christian Church as they hold their first worship service in their new sanctuary.
On Saturday evening January 21, they will be having a Concert of Prayers and Dedication in
the new building beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tours of the church will also be available at that time.
National Pie Day will be celebrated by our church on January 22 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Come and fellowship by bringing a pie, sharing, and enjoying good eats and good times with
family and friends.
The annual book fair and soup luncheon will be held on Saturday, February 4 from
8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Bring donations of any kind of good used books and place them under
the coat rack in the downstairs lobby so they can be priced and be made ready for the sale.
Requests for food donations will be made at a later date.
Don’t forget to continue bringing items for the homeless as well as toilet paper and
personal items, i.e. toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, body wash, mouthwash,
feminine personal care items, etc. These also may be left in the downstairs lobby.
JOYS
There were sixty-nine who attended worship service today. We were glad to welcome
several guests who popped in to be with us. Among those visiting were family members of
Sarah Lambert: a daughter Judith Walezak, another daughter Joanie DuBois, a granddaughter
Karren DuBois and two great-grandsons Corbin and Ethan. Reta McVickers was present along
with her care-giver Sharon Hazel.
Rachel Fowler and her boyfriend became engaged on New Year’s Eve. They have set the
date for their wedding as Sunday, August 5, 2012.
Laura Smith thanked the congregation for her Christmas gift.
PRAYERS & CONCERNS
Concerns were voiced for and prayers requested for Ethel Withrow, who is currently
staying with her daughter. Ethel will be going through a series of rehabilitation therapy
treatments at the hospital, and her goal is to be back at church by Easter. Margie McVickers is
home from the hospital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all these people in their times of personal sadness,
trials, and tribulations.
Remember to include in our prayers any other unspoken concerns that members of the
congregation may have. Also, keep in our thoughts and hearts other families in our community
who have recently had members pass from life-on-earth to ever-lasting life as well as those who
may have had surgery or are facing possible surgical procedures. Some of our WUMC members
and/or our extended church families may be in the hospital or other nursing facilities or are
facing medical difficulties, so pray for these individuals and their caregivers also.
Others in our community may be facing cancer and other diseases, known and unknown,
surgeries, and who may be experiencing personal problems such as troubled marriages and
unemployment. Don’t forget them. For these above mentioned names, the individuals listed on
our prayer lists, and those with unspoken concerns, we lift them and their loved ones up in
prayer.
*****
God asks each of us a question as we enter the church every Sunday
morning: “What can I do for you?” He asks yet another question upon our
departure: “Did you get what you came for?” Can we answer these two
important questions?
Who we are — The Williamsville United Methodist Church is a caring
community of believers with a mission to grow in faith and evangelize the world
for Jesus Christ in accordance with His Great Commission found in Matthew
28:18-20 to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.” (NIV)

**NOTE there may have been announcements made, joys declared, concerns made known, and prayers
asked to be lifted up that did not get “heard.” For this I apologize. Nothing is ever intentionally left out.
